Itineraries
Day 1
Arrive Delhi
Meals: Dinner (meals were not included in Delhi on Day 1 but we’ll arrange dinner) Arrive Delhi in the late morning. You will be met and transferred to Sultanpur (1.5 hours). Rest of the day birding outside Sultanpur National Park.
Day 2
Sultanpur – Delhi – Jaisalmer
Meals: Breakfast in Sultanpur and dinner in Jaisalmer
Morning: Sultanpur visit with a local birding guide for some productive birding. Check-out and transfer to airport (1.5 hours) to connect flight to Jodhpur. Arrive Jodhpur and drive to Jaisalmer (6 hours). Arrive Jaisalmer in the evening. Overnight stay.
Day 3
Desert National Park Visit
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
After breakfast, check-out and leave for Desert national Park for full day birding to look for Great Indian Bustard Stoliczka’s bushchat, cream-colored courser, greater hoopoe lark, eagles such as lesser spotted bonelli’s showtoed imperial etc are found here, plain leaf warbler and trumpeter firch can be found here etc. Overnight stay.
Day 4
Desert National Park Visit
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner in Camp.
Another day of birding in Desert National Park. Overnight stay in a desert camp in the sand dunes of Sam.
Day 5
Desert National Park to Kheechan
Meals: Breakfast in Desert National Park and dinner in Kheechan
After early breakfast drive to Kheechan (5 hours). Arrive Kheechan for lunch. Rest of the day in Kheechan to see large congregation of demoiselle cranes and other species. Overnight stay.
Day 6
Full Day in Kheechan
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Full Day in Kheechan to see large congregation of demoiselle cranes and other species. Overnight stay.
Day 7
Morning in Kheechan. Later Drive to Jodhpur
Meals: Breakfastin Kheechan, lunch and dinner in Jodhpur
Morning drive to Jodhpur (3.5 hours). Afternoon guided tour of Mehrangarh Fort & Jashwant. Thada or Afternoon Jeep Safari To Guda Bishnoi villages to see culture and bit of wildlife around Jodhpur. Overnight stay.
Day 8
Jodhpur – Ranthambore
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Check-out at 0500 hrs and transfer to Jodhpur train station to connect day train to Ranthambore at 0550 hrs. Arrive Ranthambore at 1315 hrs. You will be met and transferred to hotel. Afternoon safari to the national park for tiger tracking and wildlife viewing. Overnight stay.
Day 9
Ranthambore National Park
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Morning and afternoon tiger-tracking in Ranthambore National park in open trucks. You have the option of going to the park for tiger-tracking or visiting the 1000 year old fort. Overnight stay.
Day 10
Ranthambore to Bharatpur
Meals: Breakfast and packed lunch from Ranthambore, dinner in Bharatpur.
Morning birding outside the park in Ranthambore. Drive to Bharatpur (5 – 6 hours) with packed lunch stopping en route at Bund Baretha for birding. Arrive Bharatpur in the evening. Dinner and Overnight stay.
The birds that one can expect around the resort are grey francolin, sirkeer malkoha, painted sandgrouse. Indian courser, yellow-wattled lapwing, southern grey shrike, Isabelline wheatear, desert wheatear, variable wheatear, ashy crowned sparrow lark, greater short toed lark, blue rock thrush, common buzzard etc.
Day 11 and 12
Ranthambore to Bharatpur
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Two full days of birding in Keoladeo Ghana National Park on foot and cycle rickshaws with a birding guide. The birds to expect are Indian courser, Sarus Crane, Dusky Eagle, Owl, Large tailed Nightjars, Common Pochard, Great White Pellican, Greylag and Bar Headed Goose. Overnight Stay.
Day 13
Bharatpur to Delhi
Meals: Breakfast and lunch in Bharatpur, dinner in Delhi
Morning birding in the fields outside the park. Return to the hotel at noon. Lunch and check-out for Delhi at 1330 hrs (6 hours drive). Arrive Delhi in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 14
Delhi Departure
Meals: Breakfast
Transfer to airport to connect flight back to home. Tour ends.
